Crisis Stabilization Unit

The combined financial efforts of the county and state have opened the door for a much-needed mental health facility here.

A local crisis stabilization unit will provide much quicker and qualified help for mentally ill patients, while eliminating long drives, potential time in jail, additional strain on our crowded hospitals and the need for constable’s deputies to leave their jobs in order to provide transportation and an escort for the patients.

The final piece of the financial puzzle came when the state awarded Tri-County Mental Health Mental Retardation a $598,982 grant for the 2008 fiscal year and $1.759 million for the 2009 fiscal year. Earlier this year, the Montgomery County Hospital District approved $1 million for the mental health crisis facility to pay the 25 percent match for the state grant. Montgomery County already had committed a $1.5 million Community Development Block Grant for the construction of the facility.

Coping with Divorce: Words Tell the Story
University of Arizona researchers say that people in the midst of divorce reveal how they are handling things – not so much by what they say but how they say it.
